Working with longtime clients is always a special thrill. In lower Manhattan, high up in the sky, two apartments were joined requiring a complete gut renovation and new plan arrangement. Minimal but rich, the combinations of intriguing furnishings and materials creates a home designed for urban living. Perched above Central Park, with views stretching forever, a grandly scaled pied-a-terre was created for a foreign couple. Modern in tone, the décor references the complexity of time eternal with sumptuous textiles and furnishings. Easy chic, a place for a young family to sprawl and enjoy life. This sprawling apartment enjoys vistas north, south and east. Graphically bold, the design decisions are cohesive and comfortable. Tackling the complete renovation and decoration of a historic house in London was true joy. The very special clients and I have enjoyed working together for almost 40 years. Trust and faith guaranteed a fabulous project. Rooted in historicism, the furnishings and choices include contemporary elements guaranteed to ground us in the present. Rescuing a grand property on Long Island was a great pleasure and the best kind of challenge. The Georgian style house circa 1913 and its surrounding 50 acres allowed the freedom to reconceive the estate for the 21st century. Antiques, commissioned contemporary pieces and modern art create a symphony of fabulous design not defined by period or place. A glass house surrounded by woods seduced our clients into purchasing on the spot. First, stabilizing the historic structure required a total restoration, followed by an understated and sensitive decoration. This was the fifth project for clients who love living well—recently completed was project nine!
