Renowned designer Jamie Drake began his career in interior design at a very early age when he announced to his best friend that he was in charge of decorating their backyard fort. He was 7 years old. Flash forward, upon graduating from Parsons School of Design in 1978 he established his first firm based on clients hiring him, 2 days out of school. In the ensuing years he has been lauded and applauded for his work.
Celebrated for his bold, exuberant aesthetic and unmatched expertise across design periods and styles, Drake creates spaces that are glamorous, eloquent, and uniquely tailored to each client. His work reflects contemporary comfort while exuding timeless sophistication. From cosmopolitan glass-wrapped penthouses and expansive estates to commercial interiors such as private foundations and state-of-the-art medical facilities, Drake’s vision has no bounds. His portfolio also extends to yachts, airplanes, and helicopters. Beyond interiors, he is a prolific designer of luxury home products, with collections spanning carpets, rugs, furniture, fabrics, lighting, and bath fixtures.
Drake’s work has graced the pages of premier design publications including Architectural Digest, Elle Decor, Traditional Home, House Beautiful, and Interior Design. Among his numerous accolades, he has been a fixture on the Architectural Digest AD100 list and was inducted into the AD100 Hall of Fame in 2022. A longstanding member of the Elle Decor A-List, Drake has also been honored with the Fashion Group International Night of Stars Award for Interior Design, the ASID College of Fellows designation, and induction into Interior Design magazine’s Hall of Fame.
In addition to his design achievements, Drake is deeply committed to philanthropy. He serves as chairman of the New York Community Trust board and sits on the boards of The Alpha Workshops, Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club, and Parsons School of Design. As vice chair of the Kips Bay Decorator Showhouse and co-chair of its President’s Dinner, he actively supports fundraising efforts for the Kips Bay Boys & Girls Club. Drake is also an ardent supporter of Housing Works and its Design on a Dime fundraiser. His contributions have been recognized with the Partnership for the Homeless Director’s Award, the New York School of Interior Design Centennial Award, and the DLN Design Leadership Award, among others.
